History

We looked hard to find books that would fulfill the need of the muslim community and we found none readily available. Out there were just a few books that were not up to the standard that we sought. We searched with a purpose, and found the chalice we were looking for brimming.

Well, despite the hurdles and challenges, we have done better than you could ever have imagined. We have brought to you what we believe that no writer, book shop, author or school has either been able, or prepared, to do. We finally found, The Eemaan Reading Series!

We want to introduce to you exclusively the Eemaan Reading series books on behalf of Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips. The Eemaan Reading Series is a pioneering effort aimed at establishing an educationally sound and visually attractive collection of graded English readers with Islamic moral content for the primary school level (ages 3-12). Due to the scarcity of such materials in the past, Muslim schools around the world are forced to use books prepared for secular schools which oftentimes contained concepts and ideas in conflict with Islamic norms. Some schools also use our books to teach the akhlaaq (ethics) component of their Islamic studies curriculum through stories about Muslim children having to make moral choices from which they learn and grow.

Dr. Bilal Philips has been working diligently over the past years trying to meet the Islamization needs and demands of Muslim primary schools around the globe and has specifically designed and tailored this series accordingly. The books are fundamentally for English readers for the subject of English in primary schools and are professionally illustrated by a variety of international artists. They teach Islamic morals, manners and ethics through enjoyable stories. Many teachers have found the books to be a fun way of teaching Islam as well as teaching the English language in which kids practice their reading skills and enjoy learning about Islam at the same time. The series also contains key verses from the Quran & Hadeeth along with a word-list at the end of each book to help the children build their vocabulary. The series includes children's work books along with teachers' notes and guidelines.

Olive Books UK Ltd is an independent business established in early 2008 which shares Dr Bilal's vision and is the exclusive international publisher and distributor of this series in conjunction with Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips. Olive books UK Ltd is based in London (UK).

The Eeemaan reading series was the initial idea of Dr. Bilal Philips and was distributed world-wide. This series, the brain-child of Dr Bilal, was first started in 1996 under his inspiration and supervision with grants from IBERR at Dar al Fatah Press in Sharjah, UAE.

Our main aim behind the Eemaan Reading Series is the Islamization of all subjects in the curricula of Muslim schools in order to propagate Islamic teachings in all subjects taught within Muslim Schools. We hope that this pioneering effort will encourage others internationally to cooperate in addressing this great challenge which must be fulfilled before Muslim schools can possibly become truly Islamic.
